Direct answer
Who I am and how I work.
I’m Zahid Sohail, a psychologist and family and relationship counselor with more than 15 years of experience. I support adults, couples and families with marriage and relationship concerns, depression, anxiety, stress, anger and emotional regulation. I consult online in English, Urdu and Punjabi through audio, video or text chat, with appointments arranged through The Bonding Corner.
Areas I help with
You do not need the perfect label before you speak.
People often arrive with several things tangled together: a relationship under strain, sleep affected by worry, anger after feeling unheard, or low mood after a long period of conflict. I begin with what is happening in your life, not with a category you have to choose correctly.
Marriage counseling
I help you examine recurring arguments, emotional distance, trust concerns, family pressure and difficult decisions about the marriage.

I work with communication breakdowns, jealousy, attachment patterns, trust after hurt, breakups and decisions about staying or separating.

I help families slow down blame, clarify boundaries, handle intergenerational pressure and talk about difficult subjects more constructively.
Understand family counselingLow mood and depression
I support you in understanding withdrawal, hopeless thinking, loss of interest and routines that have become difficult to maintain.
Learn about depression counselingAnxiety and overthinking
I help you map worry loops, physical tension, uncertainty, avoidance and the pressure to keep every possible outcome under control.
Read about anxiety counselingStress, anger and emotional regulation
I work with overload, irritability, impulsive reactions, difficult boundaries and practical ways to respond without escalating the situation.
Explore stress counselingMy main area of work
Relationships are where I have spent most of my professional life.
Marriage and family problems rarely belong to only one person. A disagreement may involve old hurt, family expectations, fear of rejection, money, intimacy, or a communication pattern that neither person knows how to interrupt.
I do not begin by deciding who is right. I begin by understanding what happens between you, what keeps repeating and what each person can influence.
“We have the same argument every week.”
I help you trace the sequence: trigger, interpretation, reaction, and aftermath, so the discussion becomes specific enough to change.
“Trust was damaged. Can it be rebuilt?”
I help you distinguish reassurance from repair, discuss accountability and assess what consistent rebuilding would require.
“My partner will not attend.”
You can still consult alone. We can work on your responses, boundaries, decisions and the part of the pattern you can change.
“I am unsure whether this marriage is right.”
I offer structured decision support around compatibility, matchmaking concerns, premarital anxiety and competing family expectations.
“We cannot talk about intimacy.”
I approach relationship-related sexual and intimacy concerns respectfully, without shame, while recognising when medical referral may also be useful.
Beyond relationship concerns
I also work with the inner pressure people carry alone.
A relationship problem can intensify anxiety or low mood, but emotional distress can also make communication, concentration and everyday decisions harder. I look at both sides of that connection rather than treating them as separate stories.
I aim to make psychological ideas usable. That may mean noticing a thought pattern, planning one manageable activity, practising a calmer response, or deciding how to raise a difficult subject.
Depression and loss of interest
We may examine withdrawal, self-critical thinking, disrupted routine, loneliness and the small actions that can make daily life more workable.
Anxiety, uncertainty and overthinking
We may separate useful preparation from worry that repeats without resolving anything, then practise responding differently to uncertainty.
Stress, burnout and difficult boundaries
We may map where demands exceed capacity, what keeps you saying yes, and which boundary can be expressed clearly and realistically.
Anger and emotional intensity
We may identify early signals, slow the reaction and build alternatives that protect both your needs and the relationship around you.
My counseling approach
A session should create understanding and something useful to carry forward.
I do not use one fixed script for every person. I adapt the conversation to your concern, language, pace and the decisions in front of you.
I hear the full context
I ask what has been happening, what you have already tried and what would make the conversation useful today.
We map the pattern
We identify the thoughts, emotions, triggers, responses and relationship dynamics that keep the problem going.
We choose a practical focus
We decide what matters most now: communication, coping, a boundary, emotional regulation or a difficult decision.
You leave with a next step
I summarise what we have understood and what you can observe, practise or discuss before we speak again.
- 01Something sets it off
- 02What you make it mean
- 03How it feels
- 04What you do next
- 05What that leads to
and it begins again
CBT-informed work
Thoughts, feelings and actions affect one another.
When it fits your needs, I draw on cognitive behavioural ideas to examine unhelpful interpretations, avoidance, and everyday behaviour: not to tell you to “think positively,” but to test what is accurate and useful.
DBT-informed skills
Strong emotion needs skills as well as insight.
Where appropriate, I draw on skills associated with dialectical behaviour therapy, including distress tolerance, emotional regulation, mindfulness and more effective ways of asking for what you need.
This dialogue shows how written counseling can begin. It is not a client record.
Online consultation formats
Choose the format in which you can speak most honestly.
I provide online counseling through audio calls, video meetings and written text chat. The best format is the one that gives you enough privacy, attention and comfort to take part meaningfully.
Audio call
A focused live conversation when you want privacy without appearing on camera.
Video meeting
A face-to-face online session that can help when expression and interaction are important.
Text chat counseling
A written format when speaking aloud is difficult, your privacy is limited or you think more clearly in writing.
اردو میں مشاورت
آپ اپنی بات اُس زبان میں کر سکتے ہیں جس میں وہ سب سے زیادہ واضح محسوس ہو۔
I offer sessions in Urdu as well as English and Punjabi. You do not need to translate a deeply personal concern into formal language before we can discuss it.

Where to consult with me
If you would like to speak with me, begin at The Bonding Corner.
The Bonding Corner manages my online appointments and can help you choose an audio call, video meeting or text chat. You can book directly or ask the support team a practical question before deciding.
Common questions
Clear answers before you book.
If your question is practical rather than personal, The Bonding Corner support team can help without asking you to explain your private concern.
Are you a psychologist or a relationship counselor?
I am trained in applied psychology and work as a psychologist and family and relationship counselor. Relationship work is my main specialism, and I also provide counseling for depression, anxiety, stress, anger and emotional regulation.
Can I consult you alone about a marriage problem?
Yes. Your partner does not have to attend for you to begin. In an individual session, I can help you understand the pattern, prepare a conversation, clarify boundaries and make decisions about what you can control.
Do you work only with marriage and relationship issues?
No. I also work with low mood, depression, anxiety, overthinking, stress, anger, confidence and emotional regulation. When a concern falls outside my scope, I will say so and suggest a more appropriate kind of professional support.
What does CBT- or DBT-informed counseling mean?
It means I may use useful ideas or skills associated with cognitive behavioural therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy when they fit your concern. These can include examining thought patterns, changing avoidance, regulating strong emotions, tolerating distress and communicating more effectively. I do not force every session into one method.
Which languages can I use in a session?
You can consult with me in English, Urdu or Punjabi. You are welcome to switch between languages if that makes it easier to explain a personal or culturally specific concern.
Can I choose audio, video or text chat?
Yes. I provide online counseling by audio call, video meeting and text chat. Each format needs enough privacy and attention for meaningful counseling. You can compare the formats on The Bonding Corner’s online sessions page.
Is counseling confidential?
I treat counseling conversations as private and confidential within professional, ethical and legal limits. Before sharing highly sensitive information, you can ask how communication, records and any limits to confidentiality are handled.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. I provide psychological counseling; I do not prescribe medicine. If medication assessment or medical care appears relevant, I may recommend speaking with a psychiatrist or another qualified medical professional.
Where do I book a consultation with you?
Please book through The Bonding Corner, my online psychology and counseling practice. For help choosing a format, message the support team on WhatsApp or email support@bondingcorner.com.
